Joseph took an official visit to Rutgers on May 29th, but left campus without announcing his commitment. After having a week to work things out, he ultimately decided to commit to the Knights. Joseph was slated to take an official visit to Boston College next weekend, but, with his commitment, he has decided to cancel it.
The 6-foot-3, 321-pound Joseph plays defensive tackle for Ridge Community High School in Davenport, Florida. Joseph is relatively new to the game of football, having only played one half-season of organized football last year. Most of his athletic experience comes from playing basketball, so he has traits that can be molded to fit the position’s needs.
Rutgers defensive coordinator Travis Johansen flew down to Florida a few times to visit Joseph in person and convinced him to schedule an official visit to campus after seeing him play in his high school’s spring football game.
Despite only playing five games of actual football, Joseph showed his promise on the gridiron last season by averaging over a sack per game.
Joseph joins Dennis Glenn Jr. as the second defensive tackle to commit to Rutgers this recruitment cycle. He is also the fourth commit from Florida this class, making Florida the state with the most Rutgers commits this class.
He is currently unranked by all four ranking services, likely due to his limited experience on the field.
