Latest injury update on UNC basketball standout isn't a good one

The North Carolina Tar Heels have hit a bit of a road bump here in February. Following a big win over Duke that extended their win streak to five in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Tar Heels have lost two of the last three games.

However, that is in a large part due to the injuries to Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar. Both suffered injuries in the loss to Miami and now have missed the win over Pitt and the loss at NC State. Wilson is expected to be out for some time longer but the biggest surprise is Veesaar.
An illness and lower-body injury kept him out vs. Pitt. But it was reported that the injury was what kept him out at NC State. Following that game, Hubert Davis called Veesaar 'day-to-day'.
“His outlook is day to day. Every day, he’s getting better. In regard to the lower extremities, he’s getting better, also with his flu. He’s making huge strides every day, and every day we’ll evaluate and see when he’s available to practice, and then when he’s able to practice, see when he’s able to play.”
On Wednesday, things got interesting. Inside Carolina reported that a team spokesperson confirmed that Veesaar is still being held out of practice.
A team spokesman confirmed on Wednesday that the seven-footer is, in fact, being held out of practice.
Davis’ comments were notable, considering his remarks earlier in the week suggested Veesaar was nearing a return rather than still being held out of practice.
That's not a good sign. The first step for Veessar to return is getting back to practice. But the season is winding down and time is running out. For North Carolina, the hope is that he and Wilson can make a return before the season is over and go on a run.
