Metter girls headed to state semifinals after beating Terrell County

METTER, Ga. (WSAV) — The Metter girls basketball team advanced to the GHSA Class A Division II semifinals after a 50-46 home win over Terrell County.

Metter trailed by four at the half and after the third quarter. The Lady Tigers outscored Terrell County 18-10 in the final frame to advance to the next round.

Metter will take on the winner of Emanuel County Institute and Washington-Wilkes on March 6 at Fort Valley State University at 5 p.m.

In other quarterfinal action, Jenkins lost to Pickens, 60-42, in a rematch of the 2025 quarterfinal matchup.

Out in Hinesville, Bradwell Institute’s perfect season came to an end. The Lady Tigers fell to last year’s state champions, River Ridge, 50-48, in a game where they led in the fourth quarter by six.

Out in Toombs County, Vidalia came up short against Elbert County, 61-38.
