Bellato (13-3-1 MMA, 2-1-1 UFC) handed Fernandez (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) the first loss of his career when he rallied for a TKO to open the prelims at T-Mobile Arena.
Bellato was struggling with the light heavyweight newcomer's striking early, but then clipped him with a short left hook. Fernandez hit the canvas, and Bellato pummeled him for a ground-and-pound finish just past the halfway point of the round.

"That was something we trained a lot with the team – tirelessly," Bellato said at his post-fight news conference. "We knew the opportunity could come up. I was waiting for the moment and the hole to put that in there. … Whenever we found it, we capitalized on it."
Bellato said after a rough 2025 that included a no contest, a loss and a draw, he's ready to make a run now that he's off to 2026 the right way.
