GREEN BAY – Tight end Josh Whyle, scheduled to be a restricted free agent, signed a one-year, $2 million deal to return with the Green Bay Packers.

The team did not offer a minimum restricted free-agent tender of $3.25 million.
Whyle, who was signed to the Packers practice squad Aug. 28, joined the 53-man roster on Nov. 4 after starting tight end Tucker Kraft was lost for the season.
He played in eight games with one start and caught five passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. He was used primarily as a run blocker, sometimes lining up as a fullback or H-back.
He played 176 regular-season snaps.
According to a source with access to salary information, Whyle’s deal includes a $370,000 signing bonus, $95,294 pre-game roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus and $1.26 million base salary.
His salary cap number is $1,825,924.
