It is genuinely impressive how quickly Bayern Munich’s goalkeepers got injured. First, starting goalkeeper Manuel Neuer suffered a muscle tear in the Bavarians’ match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday. Then second choice goalkeeper Jonas Urbig suffered a concussion in the following match against Atalanta Bergamo in the Champions League.

Now third choice goalkeeper Sven Ulreich may have completed the trifecta against Bayer Leverkusen. The 37-year-0ld started his first professional football match in nearly two years and put in a very good shot stopping performance to help Bayern to a 1-1 draw.

Unfortunately, it seems he did not escape unscathed.

“I felt something in my thigh,” Ulreich admitted after the Bundesliga clash, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I hope it’s nothing serious.”

Bayern and head coach Vincent Kompany will be hoping the exact same thing. Still, if it does turn out to be serious and the former VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper will be unavailable to play until the March international break, it would not only be really unfortunate for Ulreich but the Bavarians will have a major issue on their hands. With all of their senior goalkeepers out until said international break, Bayern would have to choose whether to start 16-year-old Leonard Prescott or 19-year-old Jannis Bärtl in the upcoming second leg against Atalanta and Bundesliga clash against Union Berlin.
