Kaizer Chiefs players who need to leave in order to play for Bafana Bafana

· The South African

Kaizer Chiefs are currently in a state of turmoil and it is affecting several players’ national ambitions.

The Soweto giants were once known as the “heart” of the national side.

Amakhosi legends like Itumeleng Khune, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Katlego Mphela, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Bernard Parker were all regulars who played instrumental roles for Bafana Bafana.

Now, there are currently no Kaizer Chiefs stars in the national set-up.

Several players who once played for Bafana Bafana have fallen out of favour with coach Hugo Broos since joining Kaizer Chiefs.

Let’s take a look at the Amakhosi stars who could benefit from a move away from Naturena.

No longer in the national set-up

Bruce Bvuma was once the regular back-up to Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain Ronwen Williams.

Now, he is no longer in the national set-up.

To make matters worse, he is not even first choice at club level, with Kaizer Chiefs opting for Brandon Peterson in goal.

Given the fact that Peterson is captain, Bvuma is unlikely to feature much for Amakhosi going forward.

If he would like to revive his Bafana Bafana career, it would be in his best interest to find a new club – one where he can get more regular playing time.

Even if it is on loan, he needs to be playing regularly to work his way back into the national set-up.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa was once a key figure in the heart of the Bafana Bafana midfield during his time at Stellenbosch FC.

After joining Kaizer Chiefs, combined with a few injuries, he lost his place in the national side.

There is no doubt he possesses the potential to return, but he could benefit from joining a side in better form and starting a fresh chapter.

AMAKHOSI UNLIKELY TO HAVE ANY PLAYERS AT THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP

Amakhosi are unlikely to have many, if any, players feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Currently, as mentioned, Kaizer Chiefs have no players in the current Bafana Bafana squad. To be brutally honest, not many players are in good enough form to be selected by Broos.

With the World Cup around the corner, any Amakhosi stars who have ambitions of representing South Africa in the United States, Mexico and Canada later this year will have to turn around their form if they are going to be selected.
