Raiders sign Segun Olubi. Why didn't Colts re-sign free agent LB?

With three accrued NFL seasons under his belt, Olubi was a restricted free agent this offseason. By non-tendering Olubi, he became an unrestricted free agent and was able to sign where he pleased.

During his Colts tenure, Olubi has been a core special teams player. In each of the last three seasons, Olubi has played over 300 snaps, among the most on the team. He's also contributed to five of the six different phases regularly.

Defensively, Olubi's role has been very small, with him playing just 142 career snaps, 115 of which came in 2023, according to PFF.

The Colts' linebacker room is short on experience after trading Zaire Franklin. Jaylon Carlies, who has played just over 200 career defensive snaps, is the most experienced player on the Colts roster at this position.

Addressing linebacker remains a major need for GM Chris Ballard.
