While some were caught off-guard by the Broncos trading for Waddle, former NFL cornerback Aqib Talib was not one of them.
Talib – who spent four of his 12 NFL seasons in Denver – hinted in an appearance on Underdog's "The Arena: Gridiron" podcast that he expected the Broncos to add a big-time playmaker to their offense ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
"We will have a new explosion player on offense," Talib told Skip Bayless. "Just know that Skip. Just remember I told you that Skip."
Bayless went on to press Talib about what he knew and posited the 40-year-old could be referencing a potential trade for A.J. Brown.
Talib declined to provide further information about any deal or who the Broncos could be targeting. He simply asked Bayless to give him credit once a move occurred.
"We will have one though," Talib said of the Broncos acquiring an offensive playmaker. "Just trust me on that. We will have that."

Talib's revelation proved prophetic, as Denver's deal for Waddle was reported less than 24 hours after the episode aired.
Waddle certainly fits the mold of the "explosion player" that Talib referenced. The 27-year-old speedster has averaged 13.5 yards per reception during his career and once led the NFL in the category, posting a mark of 18.1 in 2022.
Waddle generated 910 yards and six touchdowns on 64 catches for the Dolphins last season. He will slot in across from Courtland Sutton to give the Broncos a proven, one-two punch at receiver as they look to improve upon their AFC championship game appearance last season.
