Lakers’ Luka Doncic Scored 60, but That’s Not His Focus
· Yahoo Sports
During Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic’s historic 60-point game against the Miami Heat on March 19, the crowd in the Kaseya Center started chanting “MVP” for the six-time NBA All-Star.
Doncic has never won an NBA Most Valuable Player Award. But in his first full season with the Lakers, the guard is making a strong case for himself in the MVP race.

“It was pretty impressive, especially an away game in Miami,” Doncic said after the Lakers’ eight straight victory, per ESPN. “You hear the whole crowd chanting, ‘MVP,’ that’s what I think every player wants to hear. … I got a lot of goosebumps, so it was pretty special.”

Doncic Isn’t Focused on Individual Accomplishments
Doncic has earned a lot of praise for individual success this season. But rather than focusing on his individual accolades, Doncic has kept his attention on the Lakers’ success as a team.
After scoring 60 points against the Heat, Doncic made a social media post celebrating the Lakers’ eight straight win instead of his standout performance.
“8 wins in a row. Takes a Team. Let’s GO!” Doncic wrote on social media.

When Doncic signed a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension in August, he made it clear his goal is to win an NBA championship with the Lakers. With just 10 regular season games remaining, Los Angeles is currently in third place in the Western Conference.
The Lakers have yet to officially clinch a playoff spot but are projected to land the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
