Baker Mayfield finds Jordan Spieth’s focus ‘incredible’
Mayfield admitted he relished the chance to spend time with one of golf’s biggest names.
“I’m a huge golf fan, so any time you get to meet and chit-chat with these guys…” he said.
But it was Spieth’s mindset that left the biggest impression.
“The most interesting thing is how they’re able to turn it off and on. The focus they have to be able to block things out is second to none. It’s incredible.”
His comments highlight the mental demands of elite golf, with players required to maintain intense concentration over long periods. It is a trait Mayfield, as an NFL quarterback, can clearly appreciate.
Meanwhile, Spieth also shared a message for Mayfield after their round together.
“Enjoyed it, brother. Good luck coming up in a few weeks,” he said, with Mayfield expecting his second child.

Spieth went on to produce a solid performance at the Valspar Championship, finishing tied 11th on six-under-par.
While it was not enough to challenge for the title, it represents another step in his preparation for the major season.
The 32-year-old is expected to feature at the Valero Texas Open next week, which would serve as his final outing before The Masters.
With Augusta fast approaching, Spieth will now be focused on fine-tuning his game. Mayfield’s experience offered a reminder of the level required to compete at the very top.
