Woman found in freezer at Upington home identified

Police have identified the woman found dead in a deep freezer at her home in Upington as 46-year-old Carla Engelbrecht.
Her husband reported her missing on Tuesday morning after he realised she had disappeared.

Police make grim discovery at Upington home
Officers launched a search soon after receiving the report and later returned to the couple’s home.
They discovered Engelbrecht’s body inside a deep freezer in a storeroom at around 4.05pm the same day.
Police have opened an inquest docket and have not identified any suspects at this stage.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Litabe said investigators are working to establish what happened in the hours before her death.
Autopsy to determine cause of death
Authorities will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said the investigation remains active as officers assess all available information.
Community calls for justice
According to IOL, tributes have poured in for Engelbrecht, with Missing Persons South Africa calling for accountability.
The organisation urged authorities to ensure those responsible face justice and asked the public to keep the family in their thoughts.
