Former Georgia No. 1 pick signs $110M contract

· Yahoo Sports

Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end Travon Walker was a controversial No. 1 pick in the record-setting 2022 NFL draft. Four years after the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Walker No. 1, the Jaguars are extending Walker as part of a massive four-year deal worth $110 million. According to Adam Schefter, the contract includes "$77 million guaranteed and $50 million fully guaranteed" for Walker.

Since drafting Walker, Jacksonville has had winning records in three of the last four seasons. The Jaguars went 13-4 and won the AFC South during the 2025 season before losing to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round.

Walker has been part of a Jacksonville defense that was among the NFL's leaders in turnovers forced last season. The Jaguars view Walker as a key part of their future. He is coming off the least productive year of his NFL career (3 1/2 sacks and 38 tackles in 14 games including 12 starts). Walker has 27 1/2 career sacks and is a formidable run defender. He posted back-to-back 10-plus sack seasons in 2023 and 2024 and will look to return to that form in 2025.

Walker's four-year, $110 million deal is just more (annually) than Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis' three-year, $78 million contract extension. No Georgia Bulldog has signed a larger contract than Walker this offseason.
