That's where the cut line lurks, noting who's going to survive to play the final two rounds of the tournament over the weekend.
As players begin to post second-round scores, we'll check in with who's in danger of leaving early and having their green jacket dreams doused before Saturday.
What's the cut line at the 2026 Masters Tournament?
The top 50 players and ties make the field for the final two rounds, so the number is fluid. If scores in the afternoon soar ― like they did Thursday ― the number could easily climb. What is 50th place at 2 p.m. could be 40th place by 7 p.m.
As of 12:25 p.m. Friday, 3-over-par 147 would be the cutline. But a signifcant portion of the field has not even teed off in Round 2.
Who's going to miss the cut at the 2026 Masters?
We'll fill this section in as it goes, but Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, two stars of LIV Golf, are the most recognizable.
Rahm shot a Masters career-worst 78 on Thursday. Even with an opening 35 on Friday, he's still 5 over for the tournament. DeChambeau was sunk by a triple-bogey 7 on No. 11 in his Thursday round of 76. He tees off at 1:20 p.m. ET.
Reigning U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun is another in trouble. He's 3 over in Round 2 through 10 holes and 5 over for the tournament.
How does the Masters cut line work?
After two rounds of play, the field is trimmed to the top 50 players and ties. Those players advance to rounds 3 and 4 over the weekend.
In past years, there was a rule at the Masters that anyone within 10 shots of the lead also advanced, but that is no longer the case.
What has been the cut line in past Masters Tournaments?
As said earlier, the number floats around.
More often than not, the number hovers between 2-over 146 and 6-over 150. The cut has been in that range for every spring Masters since 2012.
2025: 3-over 147
2024: 7-over 151
2023: 4-over 148
2022: 5-over 149
2021: 4-over 148
2020: 1-over 145
2019: 4-over 148
2018: 6-over 150
What are the Masters records for highest cut line and lowest cut line?
The record for lowest cut was even-par 144 in the 2020 Masters held in the fall under much more comfortable scoring conditions.
The record for highest cut was 10-over 154 in 1982. In recent memory, the 2007 Masters played in cold and wind all week had a cut line of 8-over 152, the highest since the record in '82.
