Josh Hokit has quickly become one of the most talked-about fighters in the UFC, but not for reasons he’d prefer.

He’s back in action this Saturday at UFC 327 in Miami, stepping into a main card clash against Curtis Blaydes. The bout marks a big jump up in competition for ‘The Incredible Hok’.

Earlier in fight week, Hokit tried to pick a fight with Jiri Prochazka. Prochazka is set to face Carlos Ulberg for the vacant light heavyweight title later that night.

Then at Thursday’s press conference, Hokit carried on with his antics. It didn’t go over well with fans or with Dana White.

Josh Hokit receives backlash from fans and Dana White

Since earning his contract into the UFC through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2025, the former NFL player has attempted to build his name through being a controversial character.

There were early comparisons to Colby Covington and Chael Sonnen, but he’s taken it even further and now finds himself widely considered as the ‘cringiest UFC fighter of all time’.

His mic work at the UFC 327 press conference once again had fans questioning his strange character, as he continuously broke out into poems and even sent a random shot at Dan Hooker.

And during the press conference, White was asked about his thoughts on Josh Hokit’s personality and whether or not he likes it.

“It’s not my thing,” White said. “You know, it’s his thing, not my thing. You can do all this type of stuff but what matters is Saturday and the fight, how do you perform on Saturday?”

The aforementioned Covington ended up receiving quite the preferential treatment from the UFC after he somewhat turned heel and became a controversial fighter.

Hokit hasn’t had to force himself into any opportunities so far, though, with the current state of an underwhelming heavyweight division.

After just two wins in the promotion, the 28-year-old is now fighting number five-ranked Blaydes, who is a huge step-up in competition for him so early in his career.

If he wins on Saturday night, then there is a strong possibility that fans will start ‘hate watching’ him to see him lose. Regardless, people will be tuning in.
