Hatton started his tournament with a two-over 74, but recovered with a hugely impressive six-under 66 on Friday.
The Englishman is now flying the flag for LIV Golf at The Masters, where such players have experienced a very disappointing week overall.
But there are plenty of reasons for Hatton to be happy as he enters the weekend on four-under, keeping him in contention for a maiden major win.
He is now firmly focused on replicating his efforts on Saturday, ahead of which he has discussed his relationship with the patrons at Augusta National.
Tyrrell Hatton labels Augusta National patrons ‘very respectful’
Hatton was asked after his second round if he thinks he’s popular with golf fans around the world, and if so, why.
He replied: “I don’t know if I’m popular or not.
“I think there’s many other players that are far more popular than me, and that’s fine.
“People, I guess, will either like how I am on the golf course or they won’t. I won’t lose sleep over it.
“But maybe they see themselves in me and how they play golf at the weekend and how they react, but that’s for them to judge, I guess.”
And sharing if he felt the love of the Augusta patrons on Friday, he said: “Yeah.
“I mean, everyone is very respectful here.
“I think even if they dislike you, they enjoy watching golf, and they’ll clap for good shots.
“That’s just the way it is.”
Hatton is well known for his tantrums on the course, but thus far in Georgia he has largely managed to keep his emotions in check.
The LIV Golf star is now into a decade of starts at the prestigious tournament, with his best finish of T9 arriving in 2024.

Hatton also tipped his hat to a legend of The Masters, of golf and of sport following his second round at Augusta.
He was asked for his earliest memory of the tournament, of which he said: “I mean, was it when… was it ’97 Tiger (Woods) won?
“I mean, I would have been five, but I would have… I sort of remember seeing highlights and stuff and falling in love with golf.
“I think everyone my age was naturally drawn to Tiger.
“Yeah, I mean, it was pretty special what he’s done around this place and in golf.”
A 15-time major champion, Woods has won The Masters five times throughout his glittering career, first doing so in 1997.
He shocked the golfing world with his 12-shot win over Tom Kite, and caused a similar stir when he came from behind to claim the green jacket in 2019.
Woods was eyeing an Augusta comeback this year, but has decided to step away from golf for the time being to focus on his health, with Hatton undoubtedly among those wishing for a speedy and fully-fit return.
