Frontman Mick Jagger and guitarists Keith Richards, both 82, and Ronnie Wood, 78, were all expected to attend the album launch in Brooklyn on Tuesday with the new destiny-themed single, In The Stars , out now, with the album’s opening track, Rough and Twisted .
In The Stars gets a physical release on May 15.
The new studio follows less than three years after the band’s Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds .
In the lead-up to the Tuesday announcement, the band have been dropping hints about the new project including the limited white label release of the track, Rough and Twisted , only on vinyl under the name The Cockroaches.
New album made in under a month in London
Foreign Tongues was made in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with Jagger, Richards and Wood reuniting with Grammy-winning Hackney Diamonds producer Andrew Watt.
The album also features the band’s core collaborators including bassist Darryl Jones, keyboardist Matt Clifford and drummer Steve Jordan.
“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” Jagger said in a statement.
‘It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”
Wood wrapped up in a statement: “The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”
The big question remains, will the Stones tour for the new record?
They reportedly cancelled plans for a 2026 UK/European stadium tour after their 2024 Hackney Diamonds trek with reports that Richards, dealing with arthritis, could not commit to the rigors of another major tour.
Meanwhile, the new album’s striking cover artwork is a painting created by acclaimed American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.
