The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said on social media Monday that a Fort Myers woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after a recording showed her interfering with a Pop Warner match .
Police said they were made aware of the altercation by witnesses and informed officers at Brooks Community Park in Fort Myers, which they were already assigned to provide security.
The woman was confronted by police, which was recorded by an officer’s body camera.
“You’re mad at them for hitting me?” the woman asks the cop.
“I’m mad at an adult for attacking a kid,” the officer responds.
In a video recorded by a bystander, the accused appears to be seen kicking the teenage player who fell to the ground during the brawl.
“Video shows two teams involved in a physical altercation following a play when Renee Lambert storms the field and begins kicking a player,” police allege.
The suspect was located and detained by deputies.
Police said she claimed a child hit her with a helmet, which prompted her to fight back. However, officers determined her allegation against the child didn’t happen.
“Witnesses stated that after an incident on the field with the youth players fighting, some parents came onto the field to intervene,” a probable cause statement released by the sheriff’s office said, reports ABC News .
“A witness reported seeing the adult female kick a juvenile male multiple times.”
Police said Lambert was charged with cruelty towards a child-abuse without great bodily harm and resisting an officer.
