Efficiency & Excellence Shine At Western Railway’s 71st Railway Week Celebrations

 Western Railway celebrated its 71st Railway Week Award function on Friday 8th May, 2026 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium, Nariman Point, Mumbai, where Efficiency Shields were presented to various Divisions and Units in recognition of their outstanding performance and achievements. On this occasion, General Manager, Ramashray Pandey conferred 28 Efficiency Shields to Divisions and Units of Western Railway that excelled in different fields during the year 2025–26. GM’s Overall Efficiency Shield was jointly bagged by Mumbai Central and Ratlam Divisions. The best Improvement Shield was awarded to Rajkot Division.

According to a press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, the Mumbai Central Division has secured several Shields, reflecting its strong performance across multiple domains, including the Energy Efficiency Shield for the Best Division and the Personnel Shield. Mumbai Central Division also bagged the Inter-Divisional Shield for Best Road Safety Works Performance towards elimination of Level Crossings.

Further, the Rolling Stock Shield has been jointly secured by Mumbai Central Division alongwith Ahmedabad Division, while the Security Shield has been jointly secured with Vadodara Division. Vineet further stated that this year, Western Railway instituted a new Shield for outstanding performance in the field of Public Relations, which has been proudly bagged by Ahmedabad Division. Ahmedabad Division also bagged the Best Loading Effort as well as the Operating Shield jointly along with Ratlam Division. Additionally, the Running Room at Palanpur of Ahmedabad Division has been adjudged as the Best Maintained Running Room.

Vadodara Division bagged the Accounts, Commercial, Traction, Medical and Scrap Mobilization Shields. The Civil Engineering Shield has been jointly won by Vadodara and Ahmedabad Divisions.

 Ratlam Division bagged the Survey & Construction as well as the Signal & Telecom Shield. Also, the Stores Shield has been clinched by Ratlam Division (Dahod District). The Commercial Cleanliness Shield has been jointly bagged by Rajkot and Ratlam Divisions, while the Rail Madad Shield has been jointly awarded to Bhavnagar and Rajkot Divisions. The Inter-Divisional Shield for Track Machines (Civil Engineering) has been secured by Ratlam Division along with Rajkot Division. The Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) Trophy has been jointly secured by Ratlam & Vadodara Divisions.

The Rajbhasha Shield has been awarded to Bhavnagar Division, while the Safety Shield is jointly secured by Bhavnagar and Vadodara Divisions. The Best Workshop Trophy has been bagged by Pratapnagar Workshop of Vadodara Division, whereas the Best Maintained Mail/Express Train Trophy has been awarded to Kankariya Depot of Ahmedabad Division. The Shields were awarded by Ramashray Pandey to respective Divisional Railway Managers, Chief Works Managers and Depot Incharges.

 On this occasion, Smt. Sujata Pandey - President of Western Railway Women Welfare Organization (WRWWO), Addl. General Manager of WR along with Principal Head of Departments and other senior officers were present. In his address, Pandey extended his greetings on the occasion of Railway Week and appreciated the collective efforts of the workforce in achieving significant milestones. He also encouraged employees to continue striving towards higher standards of performance and excellence.

 Additionally, on this occasion, an entertaining cultural programme was also held. At the outset, Principal Chief Personnel Officer of WR welcomed the guests and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Deputy General Manager.
