Rousey vs. Carano video: Francis Ngannou KOs Philipe Lins, calls for Jon Jones
· Yahoo Sports
It's been over five years since Francis Ngannou added a clean knockout highlight to his uber-violent reel.
On Saturday, the video package got one clip longer as Ngannou (19-3 MMA, 12-2 UFC) blasted Philipe Lins (18-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) with a massive overhand left that ended the fight in violent fashion. The heavyweight bout took place on the Rousey vs. Carano main card at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif. and came to with 29 seconds left in Round 1.

Ngannou was largely in control from the opening bell, radiating a sense of danger as he stalked his Brazilian prey. Even before the final punch landed, Lins was showing signs of physical and emotional degradation. Ngannou didn't even flinch toward follow-up shots after the final punch landed.

After the win, Ngannou called for a fight vs. Jon Jones, who was serving as a desk analyst for the fight. Jones stood up and raised his arms, smiling all the way. Ngannou said Jones needs to find the "hole" in his "cage," seemingly creating a metaphor about Jones' UFC contract.
"I've got to try to focus on getting out of my UFC contract," Jones said on the UFC broadcast afterward. "That's going to be the difficult part if this fight's going to happen. I don't think Dana is interested in doing business with Francis, so doing it with MVP would probably be the only way to make it happen, and if we can get out of my contract that would be great."
Ngannou's win comes in his first MMA bout since October 2024 when he defeated Renan Ferreira under the PFL banner. That fight and Saturday's are the only two MMA fights he's competed in since his UFC departure in early 2023, though he did score big paydays in boxing matches vs. Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
