It's been one of the more unusual niche developments of the NBA season.

Early in the campaign, Jaylon Tyson looked like a rising star for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lately in the playoffs, he's been an afterthought.

That was most amplified in Game 6, when the Pistons won to extend the series. Tyson didn't play until the benchwarmers came in with a couple minutes left and the game out of hand.

He had been in the rotation before that, but on Friday night, Tyson was nowhere to be found in the spots head coach Kenny Atkinson usually used him.

Tyson is clearly a talented player, now in his second season after being a first-round pick. The Cavs don't seem capable of trusting him at the moment, though.

Where is Jaylon Tyson?

He's not hurt or anything. He seems to have simply lost his opportunity.

Tyson may have hurt his cause in Game 5 in a quick sequence where he got extra physical, picked up a couple quick fouls and put himself in danger of getting disciplined by the officiating crew for getting a little too chippy.

He actually got into a bit of a fracas at the end of Game 6, too, right before the clock expired.

The Cavs need their supporting cast to step up in Game 7, but it's not clear whether Tyson will be trusted at this point. He may have placed himself in just a bit too erratic a spot for Atkinson to sub him in during a key moment.
