Dodgers-Tarik Skubal Prediction Would Break Major League Baseball

Detroit Tigers starter Tarik Skubal

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won two straight World Series titles and should be the favorites to win the title once again this year as well.

When you have superstar talent all over the place, led by Shohei Ohtani, you're going to win a lot of games. The Dodgers are 31-19 and aren't even close to hitting their stride yet. That's the scary thing. Los Angeles hasn't been at full strength at pretty much any point this season, despite the great record. Right now, Blake Snell is on the shelf and won't be back for a while. But he will return and will take the rotation to another level.

Also, the Dodgers have the most aggressive front office in the game. The trade deadline will be here in August and the Dodgers will have a chance to add big-time talent once again. Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer dropped a trade deadline prediction that would take the Dodgers to another level, while breaking baseball in the process and predicted that the Dodgers will land Tarik Skubal.

"Where He Could Go," Rymer wrote. "Skubal is, of course, a pending free agent after 2026. If he is going to get traded, it figures that only legitimate World Series contenders are going to risk it. The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees both come to mind, as do the Atlanta Braves. But the Yankees reportedly didn't have the right chips to make a deal during the offseason, and Atlanta's farm system isn't especially strong either. Just sayin': When Reuter ranked the farm systems in April, he had the Dodgers at No. 3. Prediction: Traded to Dodgers."

The idea makes too much sense for Los Angeles, too. It's not often a team can go for a three-peat. Landing Skubal would make it nearly impossible for Los Angeles to lose.
