It was announced alongside UCLA, Georgia and Georgia Tech and one of the four highest-seeded squads in this year's event, minutes before the tournament selection show on Monday, May 25 (11 a.m., ESPN).

Last spring, Auburn earned its first national seed since 2003, which the tournament's selection committee grants to the top eight teams in the field. Like this season, it was a top-four seed, landing Auburn a regional bid and the first-ever NCAA super regional on the Plains.

Since the tournament moved to its current format in 2018, Auburn's hosted a regional three other times, including back-to-back regionals in 2022 and 2023.

Entering Selection Monday, Auburn was a top-five team nationally in at least two of the major metrics used to evaluate tournament teams, RPI and DSR. It also has the strongest schedule in the nation, which resulted in a 38-19 record overall and 17-13 record against the SEC.

The Tigers capped the regular season with their longest run at the SEC Tournament since 2003, beating 14-seed LSU and 3-seed Texas A&M en route to a semifinals appearances against 7-seed Arkansas.
