The leaks were real.

Three days after The Guardian first reported the 26 names on the US men's World Cup roster, the roster was officially released.

From the inclusion of polarizing attacking midfielder Gio Reyna to the omission of popular midfielder Diego Luna, it's all true.

Reyna, son of soccer executive and former U.S. national player, Claudio, played sparingly for Borussia Monchengladbach this season. The lack of club time and his family's public drama with former U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter in 2022 had made the otherwise talented player a challenging choice for some U.S. fans.

To add spice to the mix, Berhalter's son, midfielder Sebastian, made the team despite never representing the country as a youth international.

The exclusion of Luna and Lyon standout Tanner Tessmann had fans questioning the USMNT midfield strength, though midfielder Weston McKennie, who is capable of playing multiple positions, is arguably the American in the strongest current form. McKennie had 16 goal contributions in 3,985 minutes played across 50 club appearances in all competitions.

The roster is dominated by Americans playing for European clubs, led by AC Milan's Christian Pulisic.

The U.S. opens its World Cup play on Friday, June 12, against Paraguay.
