The El Paso Locomotive trotted out another alternate jersey and in the process put new signee Cristo Fernández to work.
Fernández, the actor from Ted Lasso who officially signed with the Locomotive on May 12 as an attacker, is still working through visa issues and won't be eligible to make a debut Saturday, May 30 against Lexington SC. He was, however, able to model El Paso's newest jersey, the Papel Picado kit, which fans can purchase for $89.99 online, in the team store at Southwest University Park or at Saturday's match.

Per the Locomotive, "Inspired by the vivid colors, traditions, and joyful spirit found across Hispanic fiestas, kermeses, mercados, and celebrations. From streets filled with music and laughter to banners dancing overhead, Papel Picado has long been a symbol of culture, community, and celebration. This kit brings those traditions to life with bold colors, festive details, and a design that honors the beauty of coming together."
Papel picado is a traditional Mexican folk art featuring colorful tissue paper or plastic sheets intricately cut with elaborate designs and strung into decorative banners. Representing the fragility of life, the art form dates back to Aztec traditions and is widely used to adorn celebrations like weddings, birthdays, and Día de los Muertos.
The Locomotive kickoff against Lexington SC is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at Southwest University Park, with tickets ranging from $14 to $60.
