IPL 2026 Final: RCB vs. GT prediction, lineups, pitch report and betting tips as Shubman Gill meets Rajat Patidar
· Yahoo Sports
Somewhere between Chandigarh's thunderstorms and Ahmedabad's amber floodlights, we have been set up a Indian Premier League contest that reads, on paper, like the cricket gods wrote it themselves.
Visit truewildgame.com for more information.
The two best sides from the league go head-to-head for their second title. One (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) is vying for back-to-back titles. The Other one (Gujarat Titans) would want to replicate their success from 2022, where they won their first title in their debut season. SOME FEAT!
Now it boils down to who wins their SECOND one.
Gujarat Titans had their travel plans wrecked by storms in Chandigarh and barely had 24 hours in Ahmedabad before the final. They have had a tough route here, losing Qualifier 1 to RCB by 92 runs before fighting back through Qualifier 2. But this ground has always been kind to them. Shubman Gill has averaged 53.57 here in T20 cricket, and GT have won six of seven games this season when their openers have batted past the fifth over.
RCB have had the stronger season by some distance. They have crossed 200 multiple times, had eight different Player of the Match winners in ten victories and posted the highest playoff total in IPL history just days ago. The last eight IPL winners have all come through Qualifier 1. RCB had that win already in the bag.
RCB vs. GT Prediction: Who Will Win?
RCB are the favourites here and it is not difficult to understand why. Their firepower comes from the top, where Virat Kohli has led the charge, with Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar following close behind. The middle and lower order has complemented them beautifully and their bowling has been balanced enough to make them an exceptionally difficult side to beat in any conditions.
But make no mistake, Gujarat Titans are a different beast entirely at Ahmedabad. Rabada and Siraj have made some of the finest batting attacks look like village cricketers this season.
Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler have carried this GT side on their shoulders and have had the capability to take any bowling attack apart on home soil on their day.
There is a scenario where GT's bowling holds RCB to somewhere around 200, and then Sudharsan and Gill make hay on a surface they have known and loved all season. That is not beyond the realms of possibility. But that scenario narrows the bandwidth considerably, because ultimately this is a team game, and RCB have too many batting options for any bowling attack to contain for long. Their bowling has complemented that batting brilliantly throughout this tournament.
RCB to win.

RCB vs. GT Pitch Report: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
The hard, red soil of Ahmedabad has historically favoured batters and Sunday's final looks no different. The surface has produced an average first innings score of 193 this season, with teams scoring at 9.17 runs per over.
Pace bowlers have thrived here too, with Rabada and Siraj having their day out here. Spinners have had little say, so expect a high-scoring, pace-dominated final.

RCB are likely to name an unchanged side from the one that dismantled GT in Qualifier 1, having found a combination that has worked brilliantly for them. The one question mark hanging over their selection is the fitness of Phil Salt, who has been a devastating presence at the top of the order when available. Should Salt pass fit in time for Sunday, he could come straight back into the XI.
GT could bring back Arshad Khan in the mix as he has done well at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Here's how both sides are likely to line up in this game.
RCB predicted lineup to play GT
