The Las Vegas Raiders are set to have yet another new starting quarterback. Since Derek Carr's departure, seven other quarterbacks have started games for the Raiders. In 2026, they could have Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza both start, too, bringing the total to nine.

That would mean that by the end of his third season, tight end Brock Bowers would have caught passes from five different quarterbacks. That's not ideal, but regardless, Bowers is excited for what’s to come. And, there's one thing that Kirk Cousins does that intrigues Bowers-he throws a nice football.

“Yeah, he’s a veteran guy, so he’s seen a lot of stuff, and I mean, working with him, he throws the ball, he’s been around the league a while, so yeah. He’s just a great QB. I mean, it’s hard to find too many things negative about him," Bowers told reporters earlier this week.

Bowers will serve as the wide receiver one in this offense, even at tight end. He will be that safety blanket for Cousins and Mendoza. And, they will need that. It's important that there's good chemistry among everyone. It's also important that the best player on offense likes who's throwing him the ball.

And Cousins still has some juice, too.

Kirk Cousins can be the best quarterback Brock Bowers has played with to date

Cousins, even after starting as a backup in Atlanta in 2025 and playing 10 games, performed well in advanced metrics. For instance, he posted an 89.5% Catchable Ball Percentage (seventh-best among players with 100+ attempts) and a 78.1% On Target Percentage (sixth-best), demonstrating strong accuracy.

Cousins is still an accurate thrower. However, success now depends on fitting into the right system, calling the right plays, and having strong support. His familiarity with Kubiak from their time in Minnesota in 2023 helps ensure a smooth transition.

Ultimately, the Raiders got the two quarterbacks they wanted, and Cousins has shown he's committed to helping Mendoza. He should help Bowers, too. I mean, can Cousins really be worse than what Bowers has already had to deal with?
