It’s officially June, which means two things: Kyle Schwarber is going to continue mashing baseballs, and the 2026 NHL Draft is this month!

The Philadelphia Flyers are set to select 21st overall, but could they have a chance to move up? We also take a look at our second report card of the series.
Sticking with the Flyers, the World Championships have come to an end, so we look at how each Flyer who was in Switzerland played.
Around the league, we look at a positive meeting between one team and its biggest star. We also look at two trade costs and how the Gold Medal was won.

I am currently writing this from London Heathrow Airport, as the London stint of my trip has come to an end.
There were a number of cool experiences there; London is truly such a neat city. Nothing was better than the Churchill War Rooms, which was an unbelievable exhibit. Yesterday, in a spur-of-the-moment plan, we went to a David Bowie exhibition at the Lightroom, which was really cool to see. Getting to walk through the crowds at the Arsenal Premier League championship Parade was also pretty cool – not quite sure when or if I’ll ever get the chance to say I did that again.
Next up: Dublin. Checking off probably the biggest tourist attraction right off the plane: the Guinness Storehouse.
Now, let’s get into the first PhHN Daily of June!
Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers rebuild is nearly complete. One need still remaining is a top center. The Flyers likely can’t get one at No. 21, but a trade into the top of the draft could get it done. We explore those options for the Flyers.
Sticking with the Flyers, our report card series continued. We continue to grade the defensemen, looking at two top-4 defenders that took great steps in 2025-26. Let’s talk about Jamie Drysdale and Cam York.
World Championships: World Championships have come to an end, and the Flyers were held medal-less. Carl Grundstrom ended his trip with a goal and 4 total points in 7 games. Jack Berglund, Grundstrom’s Swedish teammate, had 4 assists in 8 games. Porter Martone played up and down the lineup for Canada, including top-line shifts and bottom-line buries. He totaled a goal and 5 total points in 10 games for Canada.
NHL Trade Rumors & News
Toronto Hockey Now: Auston Matthews could become the hottest name on the trade market, but a ‘positive meeting’ with the new Toronto brass could keep him with the Maple Leafs. Reports say there are 6 things they can do before 7/15 to keep their star happy.
San Jose Hockey Now: Our friend Sheng Peng from SJHN is over at NBCSBA. Yesterday, we wrote about the possibility of the Flyers moving up in the draft. The Sharks hold the No. 2 pick and are “open” to moving it. Peng writes what a fair trade could be for their pick.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Another possibility we’ve mentioned for the Flyers: a trade for an RFA defenseman. The Penguins could do the same thing. Dan Kingerski looks at past RFA trades to get a read on the actual cost of an RFA trade.
NHLTradeRumors.me: Mason McTavish is a hot name on the trade market. The Ducks center could be on the move this offseason. Now, there are ties to the Ottawa Senators.
ESPN: The men’s World Championships Gold Medal game between Finland and Switzerland went to overtime. Buffalo Sabres’ rookie center Konsta Helenius called game, ending it just over 10 minutes into OT.
