Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer not expecting anything ‘crazy’ in the summer transfer window
· Yahoo Sports
While the main focus of the footballing world is fully fixated on the start of the World Cup, there’s still a lot of work being done behind the scenes for Bayern Munich in terms of squad planning. There could be some crucial business done in the summer transfer window and the German Rekordmeister already have to deal with looking for replacements for all of Leon Goretzka, Nicolas Jackson, and Raphaël Guerreiro, all of whom are no longer FC Bayern players.
To add to the potential work to be done, Bayern have missed out on transfer target Anthony Gordon, who made the decision to join Barcelona from Newcastle United instead of Bayern. They also decided to pull out of the race for Hertha Berlin youngster Kennet Eichhorn and it now looks like Liverpool lead the race to sign the midfielder, leaving question marks as to what, exactly, Bayern’s plans are.

After the most recent supervisory board meeting, it has also become clear that board member for sport Max Eberl’s future could potentially hinge on what gets done this summer in the transfer market, so a lot is weighing on both incoming players and outbound.
Nonetheless, when club president Herbert Hainer was recently asked about Bayern’s plans for the summer transfer window, he remained rather tight-lipped and said the club won’t be doing anything “crazy,” as per MittelBayerische(via @iMiaSanMia).
It’s sort of been the same old story for Bayern so far this summer. Every prominent player they’ve been linked with so far has been priced out by another club, which happens often. With exceptions like Harry Kane aside, the club has a relatively hardline approach in not wanting to get strongarmed by selling clubs, which does have the tendency to backfire and cause them to miss out on bigger players.
What Hainer refers to as “crazy” is open to interpretation, but Bayern’s history in the transfer markets lends itself to presuming that exorbitant amounts of money won’t be splashed around despite the need for reinforcements to be brought in. The club really wants to bring in a Kane backup, a backup for Luis Díaz and possibly even bring in a defender.
