Mike Vrabel talks about the possibility of Stefon Diggs returning

Free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs is still without a home, but an interesting tidbit came out this week about his possible return to the New England Patriots.

While teams like the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Commanders are rumored to have interest in him, there may be the slightest bit of hope that the Patriots may bring him back.

Head coach Mike Vrabel discussed the possibility of Diggs returning to the team. Although he didn't think it could happen, he still held hope that he could return.

“I think we are probably at the number that we would need right now,” Vrabel said Wednesday via WEEI, but left the door open just a crack for the future. “I would not say anything is off the table. We would want to add anybody that could help us. I am not going to give a percentage on it, but I think we are happy with where we are at right now with the numbers and the people in the receiver room.”

The Patriots recently traded for A.J. Brown, and they have an up-and-coming receiver in Kayshon Boutte, who recently said he intends to stay in New England. But Vrabel says never say never about Diggs returning.

“I appreciate Stefon as a person, as a player, and what he did for us last year. I value that. He helped us win football games, helped us get to where we got. But right now, I don’t think that that is something that I think we are exploring. But I would never say no,” Vrabel said.

Diggs will find out soon what his future holds in football.
