Why Josh Hart sent Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges a text he couldn't 'say in person'
· Yahoo Sports
The history of three members of the New York Knicks' 2026 NBA title core goes much further back than their NBA careers began. For Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, their championship days began back at Villanova, as the trio took home the title in 2016. Brunson and Bridges also won a second title in 2018 after Hart had left for the NBA. Regardless, their history is well-known, and the bond the trio has was a talking point throughout the Knicks' 2026 season.

While the Knicks' starters made the media rounds after taking down the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the NBA Finals, one stop they made came on Good Morning America, along with a trip to the Today Show. While both clips were worth watching as the five Knicks attempted to do the interviews on no sleep, one moment on the Today Show stood out as Brunson revealed what his longtime teammate, Hart, texted to him and Bridges. (Begins at around the 3:50 mark of the video below)
"[Josh] had a great text the other day, yesterday," Brunson said. "He said, 'I don't know if I can say this in person, because I may be emotional, but I really love you guys, and it really means the most to me to know you guys are here doing this with me.'"

As you can see above, the full clip, posted by the New York Basketball X account, features some great moments from both shows. While there is no shortage of hilarious tidbits, it's hard not to appreciate Brunson pausing to get real for a minute about the message from Hart that shows just how close the trio of 'Nova Knicks' really are.
