Maxx Crosby trade rumours heat up as two NFC contenders show renewed interest

Why Maxx Crosby’s name continues to surface in NFL trade talk
Maxx Crosby has made it clear he wants to stay with the Raiders, and the team has said just as often that they want him around. Normally, that kind of mutual commitment would put an end to any trade talk.
But those rumours haven’t gone away. This week, Raiders insider Hondo Carpenter reported serious interest in Crosby from across the league, highlighting the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers as teams especially keen on the pass rusher.

The bigger question is why these stories keep coming back up—and the answer might be tied to something everyone remembers: Las Vegas nearly traded him once before.

Earlier in the offseason, Maxx Crosby was at the centre of a major storyline. The Ravens were said to have agreed to a deal that would have brought him to Baltimore in exchange for a package built around two first-round picks. That move fell through when medical concerns prompted the Ravens to pull out before anything became official.
The effect of those talks still lingered. Prior to this, Crosby had been seen as off-limits. But once word got out that the Raiders had entertained such a significant offer, it changed how teams viewed his availability. It didn’t mean Las Vegas were actively trying to move him, but once negotiations reach that level, interest from other teams tends to follow.
Price tag stays sky-high
The Ravens deal, if nothing else, sets the bar. Two first-rounders were already on the table before that move collapsed, so that’s likely where any serious talks would start. Add in Crosby’s sizeable contract, and it’s clear this is no small commitment.
While plenty of teams would love to have him, paying both the draft price and his salary at the same time narrows the field pretty quickly.
Amid all the ongoing rumours, one thing has stayed the same: Crosby hasn’t wavered in his stance. After the Ravens deal collapsed, he reaffirmed his commitment to Las Vegas and has repeatedly dismissed the trade speculation as nothing more than background noise.
There’s substance behind those comments. When players truly want out, they usually find ways to make it clear. Crosby hasn’t done that. Instead, he’s remained focused on being a cornerstone for the team. It’s a big reason why many around the Raiders aren’t giving much attention to trade rumours.
Why contenders are still calling
It’s not just any teams showing interest. The Eagles and 49ers both have strong rosters and realistic championship ambitions, and both understand how valuable an elite pass rusher can be.
Crosby fits that bill perfectly. He brings rare consistency along with big numbers, which is why there’s always going to be interest from top-tier teams.
Crosby has said more than once that he wants to stay with Las Vegas, especially after things cooled off following the near-deal with Baltimore. “The situation with Baltimore happened months ago,” Crosby told GQ Sports in June.
“That was something out of my control at the time. A lot was going on behind closed doors, you know – but I’m here now.” It’s not common for players who want out to stay this vocal about their commitment publicly — and that hasn’t gone unnoticed by people covering him regularly.
