Darryn Peterson is now set to be one of the franchise cornerstones of the Utah Jazz. The team selected him with the second overall pick, and it seems he is ready to prove his doubters wrong.

It has been a lengthy process for this NBA Draft for Peterson, where he was considered by many as the second-best prospect of his class. While AJ Dybantsa deserves all his plaudits, Peterson sees himself as the best one, so him getting selected second does not sit right with him.

Darryn Peterson will remember him getting passed up in the NBA Draft

Now that Peterson is with the Jazz, he seems fully committed to helping the team reach the Playoffs again. They have a promising roster with the likes of Ace Bailey, Keyonte George, and Lauri Markkanen on the roster.

Peterson is the latest addition, and he seamlessly fits into the shooting guard position alongside George in the backcourt. While he fancies himself as a ball-handler as well, Peterson will be a natural fit for this Jazz team as the shooting guard.

Ahead of the Draft, Peterson had to deal with people talking about how he was the second-best prospect behind Dybantsa. While that is still an honor, Peterson is using that as the motivation he needs to keep going.

"They don't know me personally; they're not in the locker room. They don't see how hard I work out there. I looked at some of the stuff and laughed... I think I've got one there (chip on his shoulder) since I was born. There's always something that drives me. I always have a chip on my shoulder," Peterson said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Moving forward, Peterson should be a player that people should be on the lookout for. He has tremendous potential as a go-to scorer, and he has upside across all the facets of his gam as well. By performing well, he can prove the doubters and the Washington Wizards wrong for not seeing him as the top prospect.
