Others were concerned that Gayton’s overconfident stance would “jinx” the national team’s performance.
The Minister has also scoffed at Canadians who joked about facing an “easy” opponent in Bafana Bafana.

BIG PAY DAY FOR BAFANA
Meanwhile, Gayton McKenzie has pledged to pay Bafana Bafana R5 million bonus for every additional match won at the FIFA World Cup. This would include their recent victory over South Korea.
Speaking to the team in the dressing room, he said: “This is not even the end because we haven’t spoken to the sponsors as yet; this is coming from the department, from me, the minister of happiness.
“I am committing to you guys, for every game that we win, we will give you R5 million. If you are going to win the next game against Canada, you will have R10 million. If you win the other game against Morocco or the Netherlands, you will have R15 million”.
The money would be shared among the 26-man squad, as well as the technical team and staff.
Gayton also vowed to call his pals in the private sector.
He continued: “When I leave here, we’re going to see Coca-Cola. I know the businesses in South Africa that donate to rugby players. I’m calling them now — your Cartier watches, everything. I’m going to call them now.”
