UFC Baku Highlights! Abus Magomedov Levels Ups, Chokes Out Michal Oleksiejczuk Early

· Yahoo Sports

Abus Magomedov looked to be on a new level earlier today (Sat., June 27, 2026) at UFC Baku LIVE on Paramount+ from inside National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, as the middleweight veteran ended hard-nosed challenger Michal Oleksiejczuk with a swift first-round submission (guillotine choke).

Magomedov, who was coming off a submission loss against Joe Pyfer back in Oct. 2024, came into Saturday’s main card curtain jerker as a small betting favorite. Oleksiejczuk is crafty and has found consistent success since dropping down to 185 pounds, but Magomedov’s size, power, and grappling skills were likely going to be too much for Oleksiejczuk.

That’s exactly how this fight played out. Magomedov started things off with rangy strikes on the feet, using his long frame to land whipping kicks. Oleksiejczuk is as tough as they come so he was more than willing to play the role of bull and try to track Magomedov down. That proved to be fight-ending for Oleksiejczuk as Magomedov caught him with a nasty elbow inside followed by a barrage of punches. Once Oleksiejczuk hit the mat Magomedov was there for the submission choke.
