Penn State basketball to participate in 2026 Battle 4 Atlantis

Penn State's men's basketball season will see the Nittany Lions head to the islands for one of the more notable early-season tournaments. The Nittany Lions are set to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Penn State will be one of the eight men's teams taking the court in the Bahamas. They will represent the Big Ten in a field that will include Marquette, Memphis, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Virginia, Wake Forest, and Xavier. Penn State will be grouped together with Memphis, Mississippi State, and Wake Forest. The dates and specific matchups will be revealed at a later time.
This year's Battle 4 Atlantis will take place between November 25-27 at the Imperial Arena on Paradise Island, Bahamas. This is the 15th year for the basketball tournament. Vanderbilt came away as the Battle 4 Atlantis champions last season. Other recent winners of the tournament include Oklahoma, Villanova, Tennessee, and Baylor. Michigan is the most recent Big Ten program to come away as the tournament champions, doing so in 2019. Wisconsin is the only other Big Ten team to win the Battle 4 Atlantis (2014).
Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades is familiar with the Battle 4 Atlantis. He coached VCU in the tournament in 2021. Penn State's women's basketball team participated in the women's group last season, losing to Princeton in the first game and topping San Diego State in the fourth game of the group schedule.
Penn State's men's basketball team went 12-20 last season and has undergone a number of roster changes going into the 2026-27 season. Rhoades is entering his fourth season as head coach of the Nittany Lions. Penn State is 44-52 overall under Rhoades.
