The ace fought to pitch a fifth inning against the Twins, and the Yanks broke a seven-game losing streak while welcoming back Trent Grisham (2-for-3, HR) and Ryan McMahon (1-for-2, double, walk) back to the lineup.

On a sweltering Saturday afternoon, the Yanks will send rookie right-hander Brendan Beck to the mound, taking the start for the injured Carlos Rodon (left elbow inflammation).

In adding Beck to their active roster (and with Grisham's return), the Yankees optioned lefty-hitting outfielder Spencer Jones back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Minnesota counters with righty Zebby Matthews (4-5, 4.15). Last year, Matthews made two starts against the Yanks, and he yielded a combined 12 runs in 8.2 innings.

Here is the Yankees' lineup on the Fourth of July in the Bronx:

  1. Trent Grisham, DH
  2. Ben Rice, 1B
  3. Cody Bellinger, LF
  4. Jasson Dominguez, RF
  5. Anthony Volpe, SS
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
  7. Ryan McMahon, 3B
  8. Max Schuemann, CF
  9. Ali Sanchez, C
