But, all-star games are still taking place and all-state honors are still rolling in.
From that spring collection, both girls tennis and boys golf all-state teams have recently been released, with Petoskey-area athletes and plenty of others from around northern Michigan recognized.
Here’s a look at the tennis and golf athletes that stood out around the area.
GIRLS TENNIS
Both Petoskey and Harbor Springs athletes picked up honors from the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association.
For Petoskey in Division 3, the No. 1 doubles flight of senior Meg Gietzen and junior Eva Rindfusz earned honorable mention all-state.
Gietzen and Rindfusz claimed a regional victory as the No. 4 seed in a tough bracket, then fell only in the semifinals against a first team all-state duo from Grand Rapids Christian that went onto a regional title.
For Harbor Springs, sophomore No. 1 singles standout Hadley Flynn earned first team all-state in Division 4.
Flynn earned a regional runner-up finish after a pair of regional wins. She fell only to fellow all-state honoree Elliana McClellan of Traverse City St. Francis. Flynn also earned a win at the Division 4 state finals.
Also for the Rams in D4, the senior doubles duo of Katey Buchanan and Sloan Hayes earned No. 1 doubles all-state honorable mention.
Buchanan and Hayes earned a D4 regional title with wins over Grayling, East Jordan and Elk Rapids competitions. The doubles duo also claimed a victory in the state championships as the No. 6 seed.
BOYS GOLF
The Charlevoix boys golf team is a month removed from a Division 4 state championship, though there’s still plenty to celebrate for the Rayders.
The success of the team this season was driven by senior Bryce Boss out of the No. 1 seed and Boss picked up first team all-state honors from the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association.
Boss was a Northern Shores Conference champion and third place regional finisher this season, then also tied for first in the Division 4 finals, before taking second in the state after a playoff. Boss carded 77-72–149 during the state finals.
Joining Boss on the first team was also teammate Joe Gaffney, who finished eighth in the state at the finals.
Also a senior, Gaffney took a huge leap in 2026 after missing all of the 2025 season due to injuries. He was a third place regional finisher – tied alongside Boss – then shot 84-76–160 at the D4 finals.
Another local earning all-state was Harbor Springs’ Will Shepler, who earned honorable mention in Division 4.
The future is incredibly bright for the freshman Shepler, who put himself in rare company. He was the only freshman to earn all-state in Division 4 and one of just seven across all divisions in the state.
Consistent from the start of the season, Shepler placed 16th in Division 4 with an 84-80–164, then was also a seventh place regional finisher.
Northern Michigan athletes dominated the Division 4 all-state lists from the coaches association, with the area athletes joined by Glen Lake’s Joel Martin and Leland’s Hayden VanSteenhouse, along with Traverse City Christian’s Joseph Mirabelli and Garrett Schultz on first team.
Within honorable mention, Frankfort’s Cash Rosum also earned honors.
In Division 3, Casey Jackson of Traverse City St. Francis and Elk Rapids’ Blake Springstead earned first team, then St. Francis’ William Gibbons earned honorable mention.
Traverse City West’s Duncan Robinson earned first team in Division 1, then West teammate Henry Stachnik earned honorable mention.
