The Golden State Warriors star continued, “But he’s deserved the opportunity and the right to take his time with the decision.”

The team has been eyeing the 41-year-old NBA legend, with an intention of reuniting James with his former Lakers teammate and friend, Anthony Davis.

Davis, who was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks in the blockbuster Luka Dončić trade and then shipped off to the Washington Wizards last season, has not yet played a game for the team.

“I think LeBron’s been open-minded, but the Warriors’ whole plan going into free agency was, ‘Okay, let’s see if we can get Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis,’ “ ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed earlier this week on Stephen A. Smith’s radio show.

He added, “I think the big draw for LeBron with the Warriors would be seeing if there’s an avenue to be a package deal with Davis. Short of that, I don’t think the Warriors are high on his list, and I think the Warriors themselves believe they’re not on that list unless they’re able to trade for Anthony Davis.”

Other teams on the list James’ agent Rich Paul drew up are the NBA star’s hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks.

James — who is returning for a 24th season in the league and who announced he would not return to the Lakers on June 30 — played eight seasons with the team and won an NBA title during the 2020 Covid bubble season.

The future Hall of Famer has played the last two seasons with his son, Bronny, whose rookie contract with the team became fully guaranteed one day before James announced his intention to leave.
