Did a New England Patriots Legend Become a "Conflict of Interest" by Helping the Seahawks Before Super Bowl LX?
· Yahoo Sports
Remember when Tom Brady said he "didn't have a dog in the fight" prior to the New England Patriots' trip to Super Bowl LX? There's a chance that he was just trying to throw the media off his trail.
Because, from what the rumor mill of the NFL has developed over the last twelve hours, it seems to point all fingers at Brady when it comes to providing knowledge on how to attack a team he gave two decades of his career to. Brady is now a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, as well as an NFL on Fox color commentator.

So, it's in all the contracts he's signed that he's either neutral or caters to the team he oversees. However, not giving even the slightest love to a team he won six Super Bowls with, and that also put up a statue of him outside its stadium, bothered a lot of Patriots fans.
On Friday, Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald was on the Dan Patrick Show to talk about some of the advice he got from other coaches and figures around the league. It sparked an uproar when he could not say someone's name due to a "conflict of interest."
If this doesnt piss you off as a Patriots fan you are dead on this inside. Im not going to say who they are saying gave a ton of advice to the Seahawks before the Superbowl but the guy has a statue in front of our stadium. What a joke pic.twitter.com/MeCxsrbVoN

“John Harbaugh and I talked,” Macdonald told Patrick. “He was great. Probably can’t mention one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest.”
Patrick immediately asked if it was Bill Belichick, which Macdonald shut down, as the two don't seem to have much of a relationship. Thus leaving the other potential suspect to be no other than the GOAT.
Brady being a source of information for Macdonald makes sense given the timing of when the Seahawks coach would have sought advice. Brady was in the process of hiring Seattle's offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak, as the Raiders' next head coach.
Two weeks prior, Brady was calling the NFC Championship game in Seattle. Their paths had to have crossed.
It's hard to tell what the "conflict of interest” comment really means. Macdonald may have said it with the thinking that Brady has ties to the Patriots. However, due to Brady's competitive nature and publicity-friendly persona, the seven-time Super Bowl champ has distanced himself from the organization a bit, and it's oddly given off the vibe that he still has some disdain after those final contract talks didn’t go his way back in 2020.
The Patriots organization was in shambles as he was retiring. He was brought back every season for a nostalgia tour that seemed to evoke the good old days.
Then Drake Maye happened. So sure, why wouldn't Brady give some tips on a Josh McDaniels-coached offense to maybe preserve his legacy a little longer before the new kid in town took over?
Or maybe the "conflict of interest" has to do with Brady's connections to Fox Sports and the Las Vegas Raiders, which could lead to more serious issues if explored.
