World Cup: Day 30 recap and England-Norway open thread
· Yahoo Sports
Well, one World Cup semifinal is set, and to nobody’s surprise it’s France vs. Spain. In fact, that’s what pretty much everyone figured as they’re clearly the two best teams in that half of the bracket. Spain managed to get past a surprisingly pesky Belgium who managed to score on Spain for the first time all tournament. Spain hasn’t looked particularly flashy, but they’ve been quietly confident. Now can they get past Mbappe and into the final? We’ll find out in a few days.

Day 30 Quarterfinal Recap
Spain 2-1 BelgiumGoals: Ruiz (30’), Merino (88’) | De Ketelaere (41’)
I was down on Belgium going into this tournament but they’ve proven to be a much more tenacious side than I remember, despite this being a less talented team than in previous cycles. I predict some team is going to overbid to purchase De Ketelaere from Atalanta this summer, and they may not be wrong to do so. Spain left this one late with the winning goal coming just before second half injury time. Pedro Porro had another very nice match with a number of really nice crosses.
