Familiar faces selected on day two of the MLB draft

WICHITA, KAN. (KSNW) — The MLB Draft continued Sunday with rounds five through 20.

The first local name taken was Kansas State pitcher James Guyette in the fifth round (157th overall) by the San Diego Padres.
Brady Ballinger was the next local name off the board. He was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round (216th overall).
Local players taken on day one of MLB draftRound eight featured a pair of players with ties to Wichita. WSU third baseman Jayson Jones was the second selection of the round (225th overall) to the Chicago White Sox. Bishop Carroll product Paul Schoenfeld went 11 picks later (236th overall) to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Tazwell Butler from Kansas State was selected in the 10th round (301st overall) by the Houston Astros.
KU’s Mathis Nayral was selected right before the end of the 13th round (402nd overall) by the Toronto Blue Jays.

K-State’s Bear Madliak was picked by the Athletics early in the 18th round (531st overall).
Max Kaufer was the third Shocker off the board as he went six picks later (537th overall) to the Texas Rangers.
