Called His Mother, Ready To Jump…
Police said the youth went to London Bridge in Ravet and made a video call to his mother. During the call, he reportedly told her that he was about to jump into the river and began recording his suicide attempt live.
PI Ghadge told The Free Press Journal, “We received the call at the police station at around 11.30 pm. We sent our night patrol personnel promptly to the scene. Police constables Ashish Botke, Dashrath Sadgir and Gite were on routine night patrol in the area. They noticed the youth standing on the bridge railing, crying while talking on his mobile phone.”
“Sensing that something was wrong, the policemen quietly approached him and tried to engage him in conversation. The tricky part was that he was on the other side of the safety cage of the bridge, and it was seven to eight feet tall. However, the cops managed to engage him in conversation, and as soon as his attention shifted, they caught hold of him from behind and pulled him to safety before he could jump,” said Ghadge.

The youth was then taken to the Ravet Police Station, where he was counselled. Police also advised him about the dangers of online gambling and gaming addiction.
His family was informed, and after counselling and ensuring that he was stable, the police handed him over to his mother. “His family’s financial condition is dire, and he was really heartbroken when he lost the money. Fortunately, he seemed okay when we handed him to his family,” PI Ghadge said.
