Three more Kaizer Chiefs departures expected – report

New Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz is busy shaping his squad for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Kaizer Chiefs have released six players so far. Aden McCarthy, George Matlou, Happy Mashiane, Tashreeq Morris, Fiacre Ntwari and Gaston Sirino have all left the club.

However, Amakhosi fans can expect more player movement out of Naturena in the coming weeks.

THREE MORE KAIZER CHIEFS DEPARTURES EXPECTED UNDER DA CRUZ
Glody Lilepo, Thabo Cele and Ashley du Preez are all reportedly facing uncertain futures at Naturena ahead of the up-and-coming 2026/27 season.
Lilepo and Cele were both left behind in South Africa after Kaizer Chiefs departed for their pre-season tour of Spain. Thus, fuelling speculation over their futures.
As previously reported on The South African, Du Preez is also expected to leave Amakhosi. Interestingly, his former club, Stellenbosch FC are trying to sign him.
To make matters more interesting, reports suggest Du Preez would have to accept a pay cut if he remains at Kaizer Chiefs.
Meanwhile, Moroccan giants AS FAR have reportedly submitted an offer for Lilepo. According to reports, the bid is substantial enough for Amakhosi to consider, although no agreement has been announced.
Cele’s future also appears uncertain. The midfielder was left out of the club’s travelling squad for Spain, while reports indicate negotiations are underway over a possible mutual termination before his contract expires.
“It’s believed discussions are underway over a possible settlement that would allow both parties to part ways before the expiry of Cele’s contract, which still has two years remaining – however these are sensitive at the moment,” SABC Sport reported.
Sirino, who was also left behind, is the most recent player to leave under Da Cruz. This does not make for good reading for Lilepo or Cele.
