Vanderbilt basketball guard Tyler Tanner will throw out the first pitch at the Nashville Sounds game on July 18, the team announced on social media.

Tanner announced his return to the Commodores in May after going through the NBA draft process, where he was a potential first-round pick.
In the 2025-26 season, Tanner was the Commodores' leading scorer at 19.5 points a game, and he also averaged 3.6 rebounds. He led the team with 184 assists and had just 68 turnovers, and set a program single-season record with 86 steals. Vanderbilt advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

He was named first-team All-SEC and to the SEC All-Defensive Team, and was an honorable mention All-American. He figures to be a preseason All-SEC and All-American in 2026-27.
He is the second Vanderbilt basketball player to throw out a first pitch with the Sounds this season, joining women's basketball point guard Aubrey Galvan, the SEC Freshman of the Year.
The Sounds will take on the Norfolk Tides at 6:35 p.m. CT at First Horizon Park.
