The world was almost as excited as the new parents, and the rest of the royal family, when Prince George Alexander Louis was born in 2013.
At the time, Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022, was alive to see three generations of heirs to her throne: King Chares III, Prince William and Prince George.
As his grandfather King Charles III has ascended the throne, he is second in line to the throne after his father. George’s birth pushed his uncle lower down the line to the throne. Prince Harry has famously expressed relief of now being the heir to the throne, even way before George was born. Harry is now fifth in the line of succession, followed by his own children Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
The seemingly shy and quiet teen is often seen accompanying his parents to different engagements, including tennis tournaments and royal events like Trooping the Colours (a centuries-old military parade and state ceremony held in London to celebrate the official birthday of the British Sovereign).
George is expected to start his secondary education in autumn at the same school his father and uncle Harry went, Eton College.
An avid sports fan himself, he can often be seen with his father at different sporting events, but he is an athletic lad. He plays football and hockey, hockey being an interest he shares with his mother, Kate.
