Jürgen Klopp wants to give players a fresh start with the national team

Today is a glorious day in the history of the German national team. One of the greatest coaches of his generation, and perhaps ever, has now been appointed as the manager of Die Mannschaft. That man is of course, Jürgen Klopp. While the reports about his imminent signing have been all but confirmed for weeks, the announcement is now official, and we finally got to hear from the legendary Liverpool boss.

Based on his first big press conference, Klopp made some big statements about why he wanted to join, some of his plans, and an interesting comment about giving players a fresh start.
“Players will get opportunities they might not even be expecting right now, because I like to be bold. I’m keen to work with guys who want to play a style of football that everyone enjoys. It’s not always immediately successful, but I also want to achieve something with the national team that makes people go home and think, ‘Wow, that was really cool.’ A few things are needed to achieve that. Everyone who is eligible to play for the national team should give their all. I’ll be watching. Nobody is being written off today. It’s a fresh start”, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
Perhaps it is an open statement, but he could be referring to players who have fallen out of favor with the national team, such as Julian Brandt. Regardless of who that message was intended for, it is a great rally cry for the German players and we could see a very different looking 26-man squad in September.
Many fans will be keen to see players like Said El Mala, Tom Bischof, and Jonas Urbig brought into the national team just as much as those fans will likely want to see Leroy Sané, Leon Goretzka, and others step back and hand off torch to the next generation of German talent.
While we can only speculate what this squad will look like, it is fun to think what Klopp will be able to get out of this team.
