Edin Džeko is reportedly set to sign a new one-year contract at Schalke to help them stay in the Bundesliga.

Džeko, 40, arrived at then second division club in January from Italy's Fiorentina and helped them with six goals to return into the German top flight.
He played for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup and left his future beyond summer open.
There is no official confirmation yet but Schalke coach Miron Muslic was quoted as saying that "players with character will be coming."
Džeko won the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg in 2009 and was league top scorer a year later. He has also played for clubs including Manchester City, Roma, Inter Milan and Fenerbahce.
Schalke have also signed former Germany full back Robin Gosens for the new season which they start with a German Cup match at fourth division Hallescher FC on August 24. Their first Bundesliga match is six days later at Augsburg.
