More on Luka Doncic: Recent HoopsHype Rumors
No matter where LeBron decides to go, it would be seen as him chasing rings, since almost every team in the league already has stars. "Where does Charles and the legends want LeBron to go? Do they want him to go to the G League? Because if he went to Cleveland, is that team stacked? Is Miami with Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo is that team stacked? Jokic and Jamal Murray is that team stacked? Ant Edwards, Rudy Gobert I don’t know; he left Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves is that not? I don’t understand the premise of the complaint," Windhorst said in response. — 7/28/2026 basketballnews.com
Shams Charania: "The Heat are among several championship contending teams that are monitoring Klay Thompson's situation and have interest in Klay Thompson potentially via trade or a buyout. Klay Thompson is in the final year of his deal. You know he wants to compete for a championship as a four-time title winner. He signed on with the Mavs a couple years ago to play with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. A lot has changed in Dallas." — 7/27/2026 YouTube
Jake Fischer: I know Lakers fans want to keep drawing the line to a trade with Dallas for either PJ Washington or Daniel Gafford because of their success with Luka Doncic. I really don't have any inclination that the Lakers had trade talks with either of those guys of real consequence this offseason. (…) They still do have interest in Jonathan Kuminga.’ — 7/22/2026 Bleacher Report
Marc Stein: Pistons adviser Dwane Casey has emerged as a head coaching candidate for BC Roma SPQR, which was recently co-founded by former Mavericks GM Donnie Nelson alongside Luka Dončić, @TheSteinLine has learned. The club is also weighing European candidates for its debut Serie A season. — 7/21/2026 Twitter @TheSteinLine
Shams Charania: Thybulle, a two-time All-Defense team member, spoke with JJ Redick and Luka Doncic about the Lakers desire to sign him and his role during free agency and chose the opportunity on Monday. Thybulle shot 41.8% from 3 over the last two years across 45 games -- and led the NBA in steals and deflections per 36 minutes last season among players to play at least 20 contests, per ESPN Research. — 7/20/2026 Twitter @ShamsCharania
No other player within the Los Angeles Lakers is more compelled to move forward into their future than Luka Doncic. After a series of major moves and key free-agency signings executed by the LA franchise's leadership this offseason, the Slovenian superstar is simply looking forward to playing next NBA season. "I think we have a really good team. I'm very excited to start the next season," Doncic told Rich Lerner in an interview for Golf Channel. "Obviously, last season didn't end how we wanted, so we're excited for the new season." — 7/19/2026 BasketNews
He shared that he was not surprised at all when it was revealed that the Celtics shipped Brown to the 76ers, acknowledging the business side of the NBA. “You can't be stunned. It's the NBA, man. Luka Doncic got traded in the middle of the night. Nothing's out of the realm for me anymore as an NBA player,” stated Durant. — 7/15/2026 Clutch Points
While Kuminga has yet to fulfill the tremendous potential people have seen in him ever since he was the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft, he could at least be a temporary solution to the Lakers' need for a legitimate starting two-way forward. Mychal Thompson, a former big man who won two NBA championships with the Lakers in 1987 and 1988, made his argument for Kuminga joining the Purple and Gold, per ESPN Los Angeles. “I wish I had Jonathan Kuminga’s phone number… He needs to sign with the Lakers. Talk about a great opportunity for him. He’d come in as a starter… Play on a high-profile team like the Lakers. Everybody around the league is gonna see you. He could run the floor. He can go out and get alley-oop dunks from Luka Doncic. This will set him up for his future if he ends up signing. I don’t know what’s taken him so long.” — 7/15/2026 USAToday.com
“I don't know, a lot of these guys are, they're just some players that that's going to fill in again,” said Gary Payton in a one-on-one interview about the Lakers. “Same thing with the Chicago Bulls (back in the 90s), you're building around Luka, that's what you're building around. Reaves is going to be your Scottie Pippen, so it's just like with us, with Seattle, it's me and Sean Kemp, it's Luka and Reeves. They're building around their guys, and they're trying to put people around these dudes that is going to do their job, get a rebound, make a big-time shot, and then let these guys be Batman and Robin.” — 7/14/2026 Clutch Points
What is the key to be able to get Luka and Austin open looks with your screens? Kevon Looney: “For Austin, I can set the screens on the ball and off the ball for him. On the pick-and-roll, I can get the angles for them. They’re both scoring guards. So I can hold my screens. That should relieve them some pressure so they can get a clean look. That’s something that I specialize at. So I’m super excited to do it for those guys. Luka is a pick-and-roll master. He’s probably the best in the league at it with finding angles and manipulating the defense. I want to pick his mind and learn from him and how he wants his screens set. With talking with those guys, I’m excited about that part, too. Every time I go to a new team or play with a new guard, I ask them how he likes to play. That’s always the fun part.” — 7/14/2026 Fade Away World
