The Washington Commanders opened the NFL's "Back Together Weekend" on Saturday with a couple of legends. Team president Mark Clouse introduced two Hall of Famers who needed no introduction: John Riggins and Darrell Green.

No surprise, Commanders' fans were thrilled to see Riggins and Green. Then, Clouse revealed some big news. Riggins will join Washington's broadcast team for preseason games this summer. He'll join Dan Hellie and Brian Mitchell in the booth, with Bryan Colbert Jr. on the sidelines.

Clouse also revealed that Riggins would join some of Washington's in-house podcasts.

Just last month, the Commanders announced they were officially retiring the No. 44 jersey that Riggins made famous. No one has worn No. 44 since Riggins' retirement after the 1985 season. Amazingly, the number was never officially retired. Riggins was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992.

It's also a return to the DMV for Hellie. A Maryland native, Hellie spent years as the sports anchor at WRC Channel 4 in Washington before later moving to the NFL Network. Hellie currently works with the UFC and Fox Sports.

The Commanders begin the preseason on Aug. 14 when they face the Miami Dolphins.
